RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s and men’s basketball players of the week for the eighth week of the 2023-24 season. Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Brennen Burns earned the men’s honor while Southern Nazarene’s Lauryn Reither won the women’s award.
#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brennen Burns, G, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Jr., Bethany, OklahomaBurns averaged a GAC-leading 24.5 points and 7.5 assists as the Savage Storm collected home wins against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello. He totaled 16 points and eight assists, against only one turnover, in the victory against SAU. Against UAM, he scored a career-high 33 points – on 12-for-20 shooting – as the Savage Storm overcame a 16-point first-half deficit.
#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Lauryn Reither, G, Southern Nazarene. Gr., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Reither led the Storm to two double-digit, come-from-behind victories to keep their perfect season intact. Against No. 13 Harding, she scored 26 points as SNU overcame a 12-point halftime deficit. Against Arkansas Tech, she came up with a career-high 32 points – including 14 in the fourth quarter. She made two go-ahead 3-pointers in the final two minutes
