GAC Men’s Soccer Players of the Week–Week 7

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the men’s soccer players of the week for the seventh week of the 2024 season. Fort Hays State’s Elias Ovelar Semeniuk and Marcos German claimed the Offensive Player and Defender of the Week honors; Rogers State’s Declan Viljoen earned the Goalkeeper of the Week award.

Semeniuk produced a season-high five points in the 4-1 win against Newman on Thursday. He scored both of his goals just 27 seconds apart. He broke the school record for fastest consecutive goals by the same player, topping the old mark of 1:14 set in 2012. He added an assist on Marcos German’s 57th-minute goal.

German played 158 total minutes as the Tigers posted a 1-0-1 week by defeating Newman and drawing in a nationally-ranked contest against Southern Nazarene. He assisted on FHSU’s first goal against Newman and scored in the 57th minute. Against No. 18 Southern Nazarene, he played all 90 minutes and scored the tying goal with less than one minute remaining.

Viljoen led the No. 24 Hillcats to a 1-0-1 record last week, highlighted by a dominant road win against Harding. In a 1-1 draw against Northeastern State, he collected four saves. Against the Bisons, he logged his fourth clean sheet of the season with three saves on 10 shots faced. This lowered his goals against average to a league-best 1.15.
