The most recent gift of $300,000 will be used to support the faculty and students in the college’s various health-related programs.
“The great leadership of [EOSC President] Dr. [Janet] Wansick made Eastern an obvious choice for our continued support,” said Tim Diehl, Fugitt Foundation trustee. “Her vision for healthcare education and workforce development aligns perfectly with our mission to invest in lasting, meaningful change in Southeastern Oklahoma.”
Wansick emphasized how essential local partnerships are to the college’s mission and long-term sustainability.
“Support from local foundations like the Fugitt Foundation ensures we can continue operating with local values and local control,” Wansick said. “This investment will help us strengthen critical health sciences programs and train the professionals our communities depend on.”
The Fugitt Health Sciences Fund will help boost enrollment and graduation rates in Eastern’s healthcare programs while enhancing educational technology, lab spaces and hands-on learning experiences.
Eastern’s Department of Nursing offers an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree at its Wilburton, McAlester and Idabel campuses. The continued support of the Fugitt Foundation reinforces Eastern’s role as a leader in preparing compassionate, competent healthcare professionals throughout the region.
