Michael Buryl “Cave Man” Truitt of Poteau, Oklahoma was born November 8, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Kenneth Buryl and Bertha Aline (Christian) Truitt and passed away on July 7, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 69.

Dillon Truitt and wife Sara of Cameron, Oklahoma

Austin Truitt of Cameron, Oklahoma

 

Three sisters:

Pattie Lawson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Peggy Johnston and husband Jim “Scorpio” of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Donna Truitt Hull of Grove, Oklahoma

 

Five grandchildren:

Oakleigh, Cameron, Brooklyn, Savanna, and Lily

 

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones, and a host of friends

 

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Bertha Truitt; one sister, Pamela Trando; and one niece, Melissa “Moe” Williams.

 

Michael, a cherished member of our community, dedicated many years to his work as a roofer. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he found joy in riding his Harley and embraced life with enthusiasm. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, known for the love he shared with his family and friends. Michael had a profound appreciation for the outdoors and treasured the moments spent in the company of his loved ones. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him.

Michael’s funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Dowden-Roberts Cremation Center in Poteau, Oklahoma with Mr. Kirby Vaughn officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Cremation Center of Poteau, Oklahoma. “LeFlore County’s only on-site crematory”

 

Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
