Loretta “May” Castillo, 79, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. May was born November 8, 1945, in Baxter Springs, Kansas to Fred and Rachel Price.
May married the love of her life Jerry Castillo on June 3, 1963. The went onto build a wonderful life full of love. She held many careers through the years, where she brightened the lives of those around her. She started with Poteau Tag Agency, bringing a happy smile to all who entered. Following her time with the tag agency, she joined Broadway Motors and then our local Walmart. Taking a break from the corporate world, she then used her gifts to enhance the upbringing of children with her home daycare. May always had things to teach and a mother’s love to give. Her and her husband Jerry then opened a local laundromat, followed by returning to Walmart. She later offered her meticulous attention to detail at Shady Point Body Shop, joining her son in his family business. After her retirement, she became a homemaker. Her home was always open and welcome to family and friends. You would never leave hungry and for those with a sweet tooth, she always had Hersheys to share. No matter what, you would always feel loved when you left. During her spare time, she always kept herself busy. She loved spending time sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, and many types of arts and crafts. Her generous spirit always in action, gifting her beautiful quilts to family and friends. She also loved reading, often sharing books with her twin sister Kay.
May was preceded in death by her son Timothy James Castillo, parents Fred and Rachel Price, her brother Billy Joe Pierce, and father and mother-in-law Lee and Verona Castillo.
May is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Jerry of the home, her sons Jerry Lee Castillo of Shady Point, Oklahoma and Adam Castillo and wife Jessica of Shady Point, Oklahoma, her grandchildren Steven Castillo and wife Jenny, Tiffany Castillo – Hall and husband Justin, Colton Castillo and wife Kaylyn, Dylan Castillo and wife Shania, Luke Castillo and Stephanie Castillo, her 12 great grandchildren, her twin sister Kay Hill and husband Ron, her brother Steve Price, and her sister Vickie Bell, along with many other family and friends.
The Celebration of Life Services for May will be held 10am – Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Calhoun Baptist Church 28876 Lone Prairie Rd, Shady Point, Oklahoma with Pastor Steve Hughes officiating and burial to follow at Shady Point Cemetery in Shady Point, Oklahoma. The Family of May Castillo will greet friends from 6pm – 8pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at The Cedars on Dewey 520 Dewey Ave Poteau, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Steven Castillo, Colton Castillo, Dylan Castillo, John Olson, Wyatt Olson, and Justin Hall. Honorary Casket bearers will be Aaron Williamson, Josh Williamson, Joe Perdue, Ollie LaGrand, and Wesley LaGrand.
