RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC/MIAA men’s soccer players of the week for the final week of the season. Rogers State’s Louis Bassett earned Offensive Player; Fort Hays State’s Federico Heinrich garnered Defensive Player and Ouachita Baptist’s Dillon Staal claimed Goalkeeper of the Week.

#theGAC/MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Louis Bassett, F, Rogers State, So., Leicester, England
Bassett played a role in all three Hillcat goals as they finished the regular season with wins against Northeastern State and Harding. In the 13th minute, he netted the lone goal against the RiverHawks. He opened the scoring of their 2-0 win against the Bisons with a 29th-minute goal. In the 70th minute, he assisted on Tom Dixon’s insurance goal.

#theGAC/MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Federico Heinrich, D, Fort Hays State, Gr., Stallhofen, Austria
Heinrich helped the Tigers complete the first undefeated regular season in GAC history. He played 66 minutes in the 3-2 win against Newman. After the Tigers fell behind 2-0, the Tigers mounted a comeback over the final 30 minutes. He headed in the equalizer in the 69th minute with his third goal of the season.

#theGAC/MIAA GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Dillon Staal, GK, Ouachita Baptist, Sr., Gonzales, Louisiana
Staal notched shutouts against Harding and Southern Nazarene to extend his scoreless streak to 288:15. Against the Bisons, he recorded a pair of saves as Ouachita completed its first regular-season sweep of Harding since 2016. Against the Crimson Storm, he made four saves to end a seven-game losing streak in the series.
