A celebration of life service for Colby Kanton Cornell, 30, will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel in Poteau, Oklahoma with Mr. Randy Mattox officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma under the care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center in Poteau, Oklahoma.
Colby was born to Mark Cornell and Kolinda Cornell on April 28, 1995 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Known by some family members as “Colbis”, he spent his younger years in Pauls Valley before his family re-located to Poteau. He attended Howe High School.
Colby’s pride and joy was his children. They were the most important thing in his life and he loved spending time with them.
Colby will be remembered for his big heart and zest for life. He would do anything for anybody. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, working on cars, hunting, fishing, tattooing, and anything fast. He basically loved doing everything.

His mother: Kolinda Cornell of Poteau, Oklahoma
One sister: Krystal Stockton and husband Clint of Wister, Oklahoma
His nephews and niece: Kanton Amos, Colten Amos, and Kimberlyn Stockton all of Wister, Oklahoma
His grandparents: Deloros and Mel Jones of Poteau, Oklahoma
His uncles and aunt: Kent Cornell of Sulphur, Oklahoma; Scott Cornell of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and Angie Mariano of Bristow, Oklahoma
His special friends: Vickie Stacy, Tabbithia and Ralph Elmore
Numerous cousins and many friends
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Trish Cornell of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: Mark Cornell, Kent Cornell, Scott Cornell, Jared White, Kanton Amos, and Colton Amos.
Viewing for Colby will be from Noon until 6:00 p.m., Monday; 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center in Poteau, Oklahoma.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
