Leroy is survived by his wife, Linda McLaughlin of Hodgen; three daughters: Monica Legleiter, La Crosse, KS; Wendy Renz (Alan), Rush Center, KS; and Alicia Wrenn (Garvin Cobb).
Six grandchildren, Samantha Sims (Deonte), Stewart McLaughlin (Coddy), Hayden Wrenn, Curtis Renz (Stacia), Erica Wrenn, and Preston Cobb. Two great-grandchildren, Banks Sims and Autumn Renz as well as numerous nephews and nieces, extended family and a host of friends.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Floid Leroy McLaughlin; one son-in-law, Duane Legleiter; three brothers Eugene, Gilbert, and Dale McLaughlin; one sister, Doris Mason; one grandson, Leyland Cobb; and his beloved dog, Vern.
Leroy was a proud member of the Ellinwood High School Class of 1962, Ellinwood, KS and he maintained strong connections with his classmates throughout the past 64 years. As a self-employed wallpaper hanger, he and his wife worked alongside one another for 30+ years and brought beauty into many homes. Leroy cherished his moments spent with family and friends, and he had a diverse array of interests including photography, travel, reading, metal detecting, and kept track of earthquakes around the world. He was a passionate individual who dedicated 34 years to his dream of building an earth ship (a self-sustaining home that is made of tires, cans, bottles and adobe) in the Ouachita National Forest in Oklahoma. If you knew Leroy, you know he liked to tell stories and share photos over and over again! He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
