What is Open Enrollment?
Open Enrollment is the yearly window when individuals and families can sign up for a health insurance plan through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace.
When does Open Enrollment start?
Open Enrollment runs from November 1 through January 15. To have coverage begin on January 1, you must enroll by December 15.
What information do I need to enroll?
To get started, you’ll need:
- Basic information for yourself and anyone in your household applying for coverage (name, Social Security number, mailing address)
- Income and tax details, such as W‑2s or other income documentation
- Information about any current health coverage
How can I compare plans and check for savings?
You can see pricing at any time by visiting HealthCare.gov/see-plans, entering your ZIP code and choosing your location. After creating a Marketplace application, you’ll be able to see what financial assistance you qualify for.
How can I avoid scams during Open Enrollment?
Protect yourself by:
- Using only official channels like HealthCare.gov or the Marketplace Call Center at 800‑318‑2596
- Verifying the identity of anyone who contacts you about enrollment
- Watching for unauthorized changes to your account or policy
- Reporting any suspicious activity
Where do I start?
Visit HealthCare.gov/get-coverage to begin the enrollment process.
Is help available?
Yes. Free, local enrollment assistance is available. Visit HealthCare.gov/find-local-help to connect with trained navigators and certified application counselors.
“Don’t wait for the last minute to check your coverage options,” Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready said. “Educating yourself on the enrollment process, comparing plans, and seeking local help if needed can make enrolling in a Marketplace plan less daunting.”
As a reminder, Oklahoma will remain on the federal exchange for plan year 2027. The state’s transition to the new state-based exchange will begin in 2028.
