Participants will also learn about the latest frauds and scams targeting Oklahomans, as well as how to participate in free shred events in Enid, Shawnee, Edmond, and Tulsa.
“Criminals are constantly trying new ways to exploit Oklahomans, but we’re pushing back with information, tools, and community events,” Voskuhl said. “Last year alone, older Oklahomans lost more than $50 million to fraud, which is why resources like our Fraud Watch Network and free shred events are so critical to helping people safeguard their personal information.”
According to the FBI, adults aged 60 and older nationwide reported nearly $4.9 billion in fraud losses in 2024. This represents a 43% increase from 2023, with the average loss per victim exceeding $83,000.
