Carol was born on August 23, 1930, in Salinas, California, to Avis Fisher and Peter Leyva. She passed away on December 4, 2025, in Bokoshe, Oklahoma. She was married to L.D. Maxwell, with whom she shared a long and devoted life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband L.D. Maxwell; sons Eldon Maxwell and Jerry Morgan; daughter Sue Christian; and grandson Larry Maxwell.
Carol lived a life filled with faith, love, and generosity. She dearly loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of the Assembly of God Church in Shady Point. She never met a stranger and had a warm, welcoming spirit that touched everyone she met. Carol enjoyed trips to Branson, especially to see her favorite Irish country singer, Daniel O’Donnell. She loved to sing and often shared her beautiful voice with family, friends, and her church community.
She is survived by her daughter Evelyn Morgan; grandchildren Christy Oehlschlager and husband Ronnie, Cody Christian, Pam Sanders and husband Cecil, Jammey Ducat and husband Tim, Floyd Lay and wife Dawn, Samantha Stinson and husband Stacey, Betty Griego and husband Joshua, and Avis Dobs; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Leistris Maxwell.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Griego, Cory Griego, Samuel Lay, Dallas McGee, Braydon Hayward, and Royce Griego.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Morgan, Eldon Maxwell, John Christian, B.J. Brotherton, Tommie Dewitt, O’Riley Hettinger, Stacey Stinson and Floyd Lay.
