Cherry Lynn Ragan, 64, of Shady Point, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on June 26, 1960, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Rex Ragan and the late Ramona Ruth (Haskins) Ragan.
Cherry’s early life began in Sapulpa before her family relocated to San Antonio, Texas, when she was just six months old. She spent her childhood and young adult years in Texas before returning to Oklahoma in 1980. She pursued her education at Northeastern State University and later earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Southwestern University.
A dedicated healthcare professional, Cherry returned to her roots and opened the pharmacy inside Price Cutter/Harps Grocery Store in Poteau, OK, where she faithfully served the community for 20 years before retiring. Her passion for helping others continued at Cavanal Chiropractic Clinic,
Cherry had a deep love for animals, nature, and especially gardening. She never passed a stray dog that needed care, always extending her compassion to animals in need. Her warmth and kindness touched many lives, and she will be remembered for the lasting friendships she formed throughout her career and life.
She was also deeply devoted to her faith and her church community. Cherry was passionate about teaching children and faithfully served for 25 years as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher, lovingly guiding young hearts. She also brought beauty and joy to her congregation by decorating the church with flower arrangements for many years, sharing her love of flowers and her eye for beauty in a quiet, heartfelt way.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ramona Ruth Ragan. Left to cherish her memory are her father, Rex Ragan; brother Chris Ragan and wife Laurie; nephew Nicholas Ragan; niece Bethany Wilson and husband Matt; great-nephews Logan Wilson, Clive Wilson, Kash Ragan, and Keatn Browning; cousin Linda Barlow and husband Sharil; and numerous other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma, with Robert Haskins, Garry Haskins, and Trey Pollard officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dean Cameron, Rowdy Self, Brian Toney, Gerald McCray, Brant Toney, and Tex Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sharil Barlow, Steve Morris, and Bob McGough.
