Donald Shawn McCloughan, 35, of Broken Arrow passed away on Friday January 6th, 2023, at his residence in Broken Arrow.

Donald worked for Cox Communications for the past 15 years beginning with home installation then moving to security and video home life for residence and business and finally for the last several years as the Field Engineering Operations Senior Technician. He was Cox’s first bonded security installer and a leader in every area that he was involved. Before beginning his career at Cox Communications, he worked for a time in construction, bounce house entertainment, lawn and landscaping, Wal-mart, and Lowe’s Home Improvement. Donald was a 2006 graduate of Broken Arrow High School. During his senior year he was selected as first team All-district Defensive lineman for 6A-4 as well as being a Tulsa World All-Metro team selection. Donald loved sports growing up and enjoyed coaching his son’s Little League teams. He volunteered as a Youth League coach with Almighty Youth sports in Broken Arrow. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved water sports, hiking, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was very creative and talented when building things and enjoyed wood working and carpentry projects. He had a passion for cooking and especially preparing smoked meats for holidays and gatherings with family and friends. He loved dining out at Mexican food restaurants, trips to Costco, and most of all watching his kids compete athletically. Donald was involved and served with LifeChurch on the host team and had a smile that would light up the room. He was a master of sarcasm with a very quick wit. He was very likable and enjoyed having fun with family and friends. He was a great friend with a huge heart that would go out of his way to help anyone if needed and loved making everyone around him laugh. He loved deeply and will be forever missed by those who knew him. His greatest joy was being a dad! This was especially true due to the early years of his life. He also found great joy in seeing his own kids as well as those he coached succeed and work hard at unlocking their potential to grow socially, athletically, and spiritually! He adored his time with his fiancée Mary and her girls as well. They brought him great joy and happiness while blending a family amid external challenges. He also loved his newest family member, his fur-baby “Oliver” often carrying him around on his shoulder throughout the house.
