Linda was born on October 2, 1952, in Poteau, Oklahoma, to Clarence “Mickey” Rapp and Cora Lee (Wilburn) Rapp. She was raised on the Rapp family homestead in Bull Hill, outside of Red Oak, Oklahoma, a place that remained dear to her heart throughout her life.
She attended Red Oak School for all twelve years of her education and graduated with the Class of 1970. Committed to lifelong learning, Linda later earned her degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond in 1984.
In 1992, Linda married the love of her life, Randy Vickers. Together they shared many happy years filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories.
Linda built a career dedicated to helping others. She worked as a legal secretary before joining the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, where she served as a caseworker. Through her work, she touched many lives with her compassion, dedication, and willingness to help those in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Vickers, and her parents, Mickey and Cora Lee Rapp.
Linda leaves behind a treasured family of cousins, including Jim and Carolyn Rapp of Tulsa; Michael Ann Johnson of Oklahoma City; Jeannie Cook of Florida; Burnie and Stuart Branscum of Fanshawe; and Judy and Dean King of Wilburton. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alan and Patti Vickers of Poteau, and her brother-in-law, Shannon Vickers of Tulsa. Linda held a special place in her heart for the second generation of her family and lovingly considered her nieces and nephews as her own.
Linda had a deep affection for animals, especially pets in need of care and companionship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made by donating a bag of pet food to your local animal shelter, a gesture that would have pleased Linda very much.
Linda will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to family, her caring spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Service for Linda Sue Vickers will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Evans & Miller Chapel in Poteau, Oklahoma, with Tracy Martin officiating.
