Helen (Wedge) Carter of Heavener, Oklahoma was born January 3, 1936 in the Independence Community, outside of Heavener, Oklahoma to Evert and Nena (Elliott) Wedge and passed away September 20, 2020 in Poteau, Oklahoma at the age of 84.
She is survived by:

Nancy Morris and husband Mark of Heavener, Oklahoma
Susan Hembree and husband Steve of Heavener, Oklahoma
Two sons:
Bob Carter and wife Marketa of Poteau, Oklahoma
Dennis Carter and wife Sheri of Poteau, Oklahoma
One brother:
Stanley Wedge and wife Jerri of Little Rock, Arkansas
Seven grandchildren:
Bradley Morris and wife Shauna, Whitney Blaylock and husband Adam, Brandon Carter, Amy Wilson and husband Brock, Sara Carter, Adam Carter, and Arin Place and husband Chad
Eight great-grandchildren:
Kaylee Harrington, Garric Morris, Carter Wilson, Tucker Wilson, Brady Wilson, Hadlee Place,
Haven Place, and Hailee Place
Two sisters-in-law:
Doris Wedge of Norman, Oklahoma
Melva Wedge of Hutchinson, Kansas

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey Lee Carter; and two brothers, Darrell Wedge and Jack Wedge. Helen was a life-long resident of Heavener, a homemaker, and a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Helen will be missed by all that knew her.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Trinity Baptist Church in Heavener, Oklahoma with Brother Mark Morris, Brother Jim Seale, and Mr. Steve Hembree officiating. Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: Bradley Morris, Adam Blaylock, Brandon Carter, Brock Wilson, Adam Carter, Chad Place, Dylan Roberts, and Randy Matos

Viewing will be from Noon until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, with the family visiting with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
