Graveside Service for Jacqueline Ann Matthews, 78 of Pocola, Oklahoma will be at 10:00AM on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fort Smith with Mason Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Homes of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Born in Neenah, WI on February 3, 1946, to Verna Rosalie (Magdanz) and Francis William Harris, Sr. Jacky passed away on May 21, 2024, in Poteau, Oklahoma.
Although having lived in many locations during her childhood, she made Pocola, Oklahoma her permanent home in 1963. Jacky graduated from Pocola High School in 1964, and then went on to graduate from Westark Community College with an associate degree in general studies. Her primary enjoyment was writing short stories and poems which earned her acceptance into various honors programs due to her writing skills.
Survivors include her three children: John Grizzle, Jr. and wife DeVonne, Jody Grizzle and his wife Cindy, and Jennifer Grizzle; four grandchildren (Mechala Broadfoot of Alma, Taylor Smith of Fort Smith, Matthew Grizzle, and Cailin Powers of Pocola) and eight great grandchildren; five brothers (Bill and wife Sharon Harris of Wyoming, Michael and Pam Harris of Florida, Bobby and Jeff Harris of Fort Collins, and Tim with his wife Kelley of Severance, CO); and her best friend Paula Knight of Arizona.
The family sends its appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and staff at The Oaks Healthcare Center in Poteau, OK as well as the staff of Cura Hospice in providing excellent care for Jacky these past several months.
