James was born February 11, 1958 to James Harve and Shirley Faye Walker. He spent the first 12 years of his life growing up as a mischievous boy on “Quapaw” as it was affectionally nicknamed. James played football in the South Oklahoma City Little League and Junior League where he excelled as Running Back and Defensive tackle. His family moved to Mustang, Oklahoma in 1970 where he lived for 54 years.
James proudly served his country in the United States Navy enlisting in the Vietnam War/Peacetime era where he trained as an Aviation Ordnanceman. His stateside base was Miramar Naval Base, San Diego, California and he was stationed on the Navy’s elite aircraft carrier, the USS Midway where he loaded missiles and bombs on F-4 fighter jets. James traveled to four continents and nine countries during his military service. He was a excellent Sailor and proud of his military service to his country.
After his military service, he returned to Mustang, Oklahoma and was employed by TWA Airlines for twelve years, CMI Corporation for twelve years and WW Steel Corporation.
He loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycle collection and spent hours not only riding but polishing and tinkering with each cycle. He enjoyed his retirement life, traveling with his wife, fishing, boating and of course a cold beer. He lived life. He really lived it. Through it all, all the living he did, he was a saved Christian, loved the Lord, and read his scriptures to all that would listen.
James is preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Shirley Walker, his brothers, Johnny and Mickey Walker.
James leaves behind his loving wife, Tawana Clark-Walker, whom he met when he was thirteen years old. After being apart for 48 years, they were reunited, and he married the love of his life. He is also survived by his Navy buddy and best friend of 50 years, Terry Key and his wife, Randi Key, of Bedford, Virginia, numerous cousins and lifelong Mustang Oklahoma friends.
