Jerry was born on December 21, 1938, in Oologah, Oklahoma, to Myrtle (Wilson) Angel and John Angel. He married Gloria “Penny” Angel on October 17, 1959, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jerry was a child of the Most Highest God and a steady anchor for his family and community. He dedicated many years of service as a firefighter at Kennedy Space Center and also worked as a horseshoer, welder, and rancher, embodying a strong work ethic and a servant’s heart throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Myrtle Angel; and his siblings, Mary Jon Machart and Judy Ann Lee.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria “Penny” Angel of the home; his son, Kirk Angel; his daughter, Kristy Meeks of Wister, Oklahoma; his granddaughters, Kayla Angel (Jon Casity), Emily Morrison (Nate Morrison), and Karagin Angel; and his great-grandchildren, Maverick Angel, Jace Sweeten, Lucas Morrison, and Jakson Morrison.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Evans Chapel in Poteau, Oklahoma, with Phil McGehee officiating. Burial will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
