Leonard Douglas Elmore of Wister, Oklahoma was born on August 11, 1947 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Nelson and DeWanda (Lane) Elmore and passed away on March 4, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 71.

Two sons:
Travis Elmore and wife Blaine in Edmond, Oklahoma
Michael Elmore of Wister, Oklahoma

Two step-sons:
Nathan Tuck and wife Pam of Poteau, Oklahoma
Tony Tuck and wife Melissa of Perkins, Oklahoma

Seven grandchildren:
Logan Elmore, Ruby Elmore, Royce Elmore, Ashly Tuck, Ford Tuck, Brook Nicholson, and Andrea Nicholson

One great-grandchildren:
Xavier Mabrey

Numerous other relatives, cousins, and dear friends

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and DeWanda Elmore.

 

Doug was a long-time resident of the area and retired from the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier. He loved spending time with friends and family.

 

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Doug was a veteran of the Vietnam era, where he served in the U.S. Army.

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in Lovelace Cemetery in Witcherville, Arkansas under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

 

Pallbearers will be: Danny Yandell, Tony Tuck, Nathan Tuck, Travis Elmore, Jerry Sommers, and Robin Steelman.

 

Viewing will be from noon until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
