Funeral Service for Loyd Henry “Buddy” Smith, Jr., 77 of Van Buren, Arkansas will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau, Oklahoma with Cliff Weldon, Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Ellis Chapel Cemetery in Wister, Oklahoma under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Buddy was born on August 12, 1945 in Bennington, Oklahoma to Henry Corrine (Brese) Smith and Loyd Henry Smith, Sr. and passed away on August 2, 2023 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was married to Connie Smith on January 4, 2016 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents Sharp and Vi Smith; twins, Janie Smith, and Jamie Smith; brother in law, Carroll Yarbrough, Sr. He served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Smith; children, Jeffery Smith and wife Desi, Danielle Nicole Slone, Scott Overby and (Briana), Mike Overby and (Melanie); grandchildren, M’Kayd Chitwood, M’Kena Chitwood, M’kail Chitwood, and his fishing buddy Tucker Overby; sisters, Janice Dickson and husband Paul, and Jenice Yarbough; numerous other relatives and loved ones.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
