Lydia Carol Morris of Rock Island, Oklahoma was born February 5, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to David and Lilly (Ford) Matthews and went to Heaven March 21, 2025 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 68 surrounded by her loved ones.
She is survived by:

Mel Matthews of Gallatin, Tennessee
Ivan Matthews of Durant, Oklahoma
Numerous grandchildren:
Brett, Blaine, Pacey, Josey, Carson, Baylee, Mattie, Justin, Zander, Easton, Mason, Aiden, Lynnlee, Addison, Lauren, Dean, Logan, Colten, Kolby, Tanner, Avery, William, Caleb, Isaac, Wyatt, and Elijiah

Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ervin Morris, who she was an adoring wife to for many years.
Lydia was a life-long resident of the area and retired from Spiro Public Schools, after 29 years of teaching. She had a passion for gardening, reading, and cooking. Lydia was a loving mother and grandmother who adored her family, especially her grandchildren.
Lydia’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2025 at Greenhill Cemetery Pavillion with her brother, Mr. Ivan Matthews officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Cremation Center of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers for Lydia are Devin Morris, Pacey Morris, Brett Thompson, Blaine Thompson, Carson Beutelschies, Travis Beutelschies, and Joel Ecker
Viewing for Lydia will be from Noon until 6:00 p.m., Sunday and 9:00 a.m. until Noon, Monday, with the family greeting friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday at Dowden-Roberts Cremation Center.
