Nila Faye (Dowell) Davis of Hodgen, Oklahoma was born on July 29, 1940 in Hodgen, Oklahoma to Clarence David and Cleo Elizabeth (Keith) Dowell and passed away on June 17, 2019 surrounded by family in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 78.

 

She is survived by:

Merwyn Davis and wife Debbie of Hodgen, Oklahoma

Opal Walker of Joplin, Missouri

Johnny Dowell

Jason York and wife Tracy, Jason Davis and wife Devon, Joshua York, Jennifer Eckstein and husband Tony, Ashley Brooks and husband Zack, and Tyler Davis and wife Jamie

17 great-grandchildren:
Jessi Parks, Hunter York, Breanna Faulkenberry, Lanee Benson, Miranda Faulkenberry, Carson Faulkenberry, Cecilia Earls, Hunter Jones, Mason York, Pierce Davis, Hayes Davis, Zarae Brooks, Hadley Smith, Roark Davis, Zaybree Brooks, Haden Jones, and Hendrix Davis

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence David and Cleo Elizabeth Dowell and two sisters, Helen Bowman and Margie Austin.

 

Nila was a long-time resident of the area and a homemaker. She attended Hodgen and Heavener Public Schools. Nila was a lifetime member of Hodgen First Baptist Church and was a poultry farmer.

 

She loved quilting, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Nila worked with Meals on Wheels and was a provider to many people.

 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Nila will be missed by all whom loved and knew her.

 

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Hodgen First Baptist Church in Hodgen, Oklahoma with Brother Joe Haydon Hall and Brother Charles Caughern officiating.

 

Interment will follow in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

 

Pallbearers will be: Jason Davis, Joshua York, Jason York, Tyler Davis, Carson Faulkenberry, Tony Eskstein, Zack Brooks, Hunter York, Hunter Jones, and Mason York.

 

Viewing will begin from noon until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. until noon, Thursday at the funeral home.

 

The family will have visitation with friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
