Phyllis Hinton was born on September 19, 1933, in Bokoshe, Oklahoma, to Lena Hopper and Ernest Hinton. She grew up in Bokoshe and attended Spiro High School, where she met the love of her life, Bill Barlow. The two married in 1950 and shared a long, devoted marriage until Bill’s passing in 2017. Their love story remained one of Phyllis’s greatest joys.
A longtime active member of the First Baptist Church of Panama, Phyllis lived her faith with grace and generosity. She treasured antiques, was known to defeat nearly anyone who dared challenge her at Scrabble, and faithfully cheered for the OU Sooners. Her warmth, humor, and kindness endeared her to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Phyllis was laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Panama on December 9, reunited at last with her beloved husband.
Graveside Services for Phyllis Jean Barlow, 92, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 8, 2025, in Panama, Oklahoma, with Brother Dale Larimore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Panama under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
