Funeral Service for Robert Eugene Shoop, Jr., 74 of Spiro, Oklahoma will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Spiro with Reverend Keith Wilson , and Reverend Buel Lewallen officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, OK under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Robert was born on January 12, 1948 in Mulberry, AR to Doris Ann (Lowery) Shoop and Robert Eugene Shoop, Sr. and passed away on November 18, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was married to Jo Ellen (Baxter) Shoop on June 12, 1970 in Spiro, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Barbara Jean Ritter.
Robert was a Vietnam veteran,where he received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and a National Defense Medal during his service; He was a brick mason worker for 18 years, an educator for 33 years, and a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church for 54 years where he was a Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include his Wife of 52 years, Jo Ellen Shoop; Daughter, Sheila Ann Morton and husband Wesley; Son, Justin Wayne Shoop and wife Pam; Grandchildren, Charity Ann Morton and husband Jesse, and Blaine Aaron Morton and companion Hannah Miller; Sister, Pat Scrimsher; Numerous students, friends, and family members.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Thompson, Phillip Evans, Keith Craig, Fred Webster, John Nelke, and Butch Higginbotham.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Shoop, Wesley Morton, Blaine Morton, Jesse Morton, Marvin Morton, and Clifford Lindley.
Visitation will be Monday, November 21, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
