Ronney was born on October 8, 1946, in Poteau, Oklahoma, to Damon H. Puckett and Rita Nell (Shelton) Puckett Barnes.
Ronney spent 40 years working for the railroad, beginning with Missouri-Pacific Railroad, later known as Union Pacific. He began his career as a helper and eventually became an engineer. He proudly spent his entire working career with one company.
Outside of work, Ronney enjoyed hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and riding motorcycles. He was a member of Pocola First Baptist Church and was ordained by the church on October 14, 2018, into the Deacon Ministry. His faith and service to his church were an important part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Damon H. Puckett and Rita N. (Shelton) Puckett Barnes.
Ronney is survived by his loving wife, Janice Barnes of Pocola, Oklahoma; daughter, Heather Barnes of Pocola, Oklahoma; grandson, Dawson Barnes of Pocola, Oklahoma; and brother, Reggie Barnes and wife, Deanna, of Burkville, Texas.
Ronney will be remembered by his family and friends for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and his commitment to his faith and church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Pocola First Baptist Church in Pocola, Oklahoma, with George Spears officiating.
