Graveside Service for Roy Dee Gentry, 87 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Ellis Chapel in Wister, OK with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Roy was born on October 26, 1936 in Poteau, OK to Sarah (Green) Gentry and Jesse D Gentry and passed away on June 1, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn Gentry, grandson Casey Branstetter, and brother Wayne Gentry.
Survivors include his children Matt Gentry and wife Nona, Kathy Johnson, Barbara Lumpkin and John Lumpkin, Laura Walden and husband Steve, Jimmy Gentry and wife Melodee; 9 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; Brothers Vonnie Gentry and John Gentry; Sister Laverne Kaderli; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and friends.
Roy served in the United States Army, afterwards he was in law enforcement for over 20 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Roy loved to hunt, trap, read, and teaching others how to shoot.
Pallbearers will be BJ Johnson, Taylor Branstetter, Jake Hicks, Ben Hicks, Jackson Parker, and Jacob Logston.
