Ruth Ellen (Brown) Altstatt of Heavener, Oklahoma was born January 12, 1934 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Lewie R. and Dessie (Williams) Brown and went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2018 in Heavener, Oklahoma at the age of 84.

She is survived by:

George Altstatt of the home

Three daughters:
Georgia (Doddie) Dean and husband Mike of Heavener, Oklahoma
Carrie (Candy) Irvin and husband Terry of White Hall, Arkansas
Nancy McClain and husband David of Heavener, Oklahoma

One son:
Jeffrey (Jeff) Altstatt and wife Shelley (Wiles) of Heavener, Oklahoma

One brother:
Lewie R. Brown II and wife Donna of Pine Bluff, Arkansas

10 great-great-grandchildren

A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends whom loved her very much.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, William L. and Sophia Brown; maternal grandparents, Marion and Mattie Williams. Ruth married George Altstatt on March 22, 1952. She grew up in the Heavener area and was a resident of Pine Bluff, Arkansas from 1959 to 1998 before moving back to this area. She was a housewife and later on worked in fabric stores.

 

Ruth loved spending time with her family and crocheting. She made hats for other cancer patients and lap quilts for the nursing home. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

 

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Heavener, Oklahoma with Dr. Bob Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be: Chris Dean, Patrick Dean, Scott Irvin, Bryan Altstatt, Andy Altstatt, and Greg McClain.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Her great-grandsons and great-great-grandsons

 

Viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

 

The family will visit with friends on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to either the Breast Cancer Foundation or the Gideon Bibles.
