Graveside service for Sandra “Sandy” Mae Shipman, 77 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield, Oklahoma with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Summerfield Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Sandra was born on November 6, 1946 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Eva Mae (Stovall) Brown and Harold Dean Brown and passed away on July 2, 2024 in Poteau, Oklahoma. She was a schoolteacher in Oklahoma and Texas for 28 years, and held a Master’s in Education from Carl Albert State College. Sandy was renowned for her love of both giving and decorating gifts, as well as her seasonal decorations. She loved spending time at the lake and with her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Burell Lee Shipman, son Cameron Todd Brown, and sister Rose Ann Nifong.
Survivors include her son Chad and daughter-in-law Tanis; siblings Leisa, Carol, Cheryl, Terry, J.R., and Jay; nieces and nephews Pam, Debbie, Craig, Mark, Brooke, Eric, Tiffany, Katelyn, Tyler, Shelby, Jaci, Cooper, Kendall, Serenity, and Aubrey; grandnieces and nephews Liz , Jay, Jack, Katie, Jessica, Abbi, Alyssa, Matthew, Bella, Carson, Henry, Charlie, Max, Charlie, Berkley, Scotty, John, and Julian.
