RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s first baseball weekly accolades for the 2021 season. The Southeastern Oklahoma State tandem of shortstop Dylan Herd and starting pitcher Jacob Potter swept the honors.

GAC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Dylan Herd, Southeastern Oklahoma State, SS, Fr., Hurst, Texas

Herd led the Savage Storm offense in their three-game season-opening sweep against East Central. He went 5-for-9 with a pair of two-hit games. He drove in the go-ahead run in game two with a sixth-inning single. He doubled twice in game three and scored two runs. In 23 games in 2020, he had two multi-hit games.

 

GAC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jacob Potter, Southeastern Oklahoma State, RHP, Jr., Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Potter dominated on opening day against East Central as he limited the Tigers to just three hits in his 6.0 innings of work. He recorded double-digit strikeouts for the first time in a Savage Storm uniform as he notched 12 in the start. He struck out the side in both the first and fifth innings. He allowed only three singles and issued just two walks.
