RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s fifth Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the 2021 season. Oklahoma Baptist’s Harrison Stoddart earned the Men’s honor while Southern Nazarene’s Abby Niehues and Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Makyra Tramble shared the Women’s accolade.
GAC MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Harrison Stoddart, Oklahoma Baptist, G, Sr., Edmond, Oklahoma
Stoddard led the Bison in wins against Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southeastern Oklahoma State as the Bison pushed their win streak to seven. He averaged a double-double – 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds – in the two victories. He connected on 15-of-26 shots from the floor, including 6-for-13 from the 3-point arc.
GAC WOMEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Abby Niehues, Southern Nazarene, F, Sr., Mustang, Oklahoma
Niehues paced the Crimson Storm to wins against East Central and Northwestern Oklahoma State. She set the GAC’s career record for blocks against the Tigers as the Crimson Storm ended the Tigers’ eight-game win streak. She blocked seven shots against both the Tigers and Rangers. She averaged 12.5 points on 58.8 percent shooting and grabbed 9.5 rebounds per game.
GAC WOMEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Makyra Tramble, Southwestern Oklahoma State, F, So., Shawnee, Oklahoma
Tramble captured her fourth Player of the Week award of the season after she averaged 20.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.0 in wins against the Lady Bulldogs closest competition in the Western Division – Southeastern Oklahoma State and East Central. She matched her career high with 17 rebounds against the Tigers.
