RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s second Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the 2021 season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Makyra Tramble repeated as the Women’s recipient while Southern Arkansas’ Jalen Brooks earned the Men’s honor.
GAC WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Makyra Tramble, Southwestern Oklahoma State, F, So., Shawnee, Oklahoma
Tramble led the Lady Bulldogs to three dominating victories as she averaged a double-double – 19.7 points and 10.3 rebounds – against Northwestern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist. She added 11 steals, 10 assists and four blocks in the three wins. She shot 52.5 percent from the field and went 9-for-21 from the 3-point arc.
GAC MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jalen Brooks, Southern Arkansas, G/F, Jr., Edmond, Oklahoma
Brooks helped the Muleriders move to 4-1 as he registered three double-doubles. He netted 14 points and 10 rebounds against Arkansas-Monticello as SAU rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit. After totaling 18 points and 10 rebounds against Arkansas Tech he scored 25 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in an 81-53 win against Harding.
