RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s third Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the 2021 season. Southern Arkansas’ Aaron Lucas and Southern Nazarene’s Adokiye Iyaye shared the Men’s award while East Central’s Hannah Ladd claimed the Women’s honor.
GAC MEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Aaron Lucas, Southern Arkansas, G, Sr., Tulsa, Oklahoma
Lucas paced the Muleriders to a 68-66 home victory against reigning GAC champion Henderson State. He scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting. He connected of three 3-point field goals. He added seven rebounds and five steals as SAU extended its lead in the Eastern Division to a game and a half.
GAC MEN’S CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Adokiye Iyaye, Southern Nazarene, G, Jr., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Iyaye helped the Crimson Storm avenge a home loss to East Central by scoring a season-high 27 points in an 81-72 road win. He went 8-of-14 from the field, including 5-of-6 from the 3-point stripe. He has reached double digits in scoring in each of the Crimson Storm’s six game so far in 2021.
GAC WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Hannah Ladd, East Central, G, Jr., Ozark, Arkansas
Ladd led the Tigers to a pair of victories, highlighted by an upset win at No. 13 Southwestern Oklahoma State. She registered her first-career double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds against Southern Nazarene and followed up with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting against the Lady Bulldogs. For the week, she went 15-of-22 from floor, including 8-for-12 from the 3-point arc.
