RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the women’s and men’s basketball players of the week for the ninth week of the 2023-24 season. Henderson State’s Ashley Farrar and Southern Nazarene’s Hannah Giddey shared the women’s award while Harding’s Rylie Marshall and Southern Arkansas’ Anthony Igiede split the men’s accolade.

Farrar averaged 22.5 points per game in home victories against Southeastern Oklahoma State and East Central. She scored 23 points in a six-point win against the Savage Storm. In that contest, she became the Reddies’ all-time leading scorer as she passed Lena Womack. Giddey paced the Crimson Storm in wins against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello as they remained Division II’s last undefeated team. She threatened a triple-double against SAU as she finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. She followed up with 21 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks against UAM. Marshall helped the Bisons snap a six-game losing streak as he averaged 19.0 points on 50.0 percent shooting in two wins. In scoring 22 points against Southwestern Oklahoma State, he notched his second-career 20-point game. He went 4-for-5 from the 3-point arc. Against Northwestern Oklahoma State, he tallied at least 10 points and five assists in a game for the first time.#theGAC MEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Anthony Igiede, G, Southern Arkansas, Fr., Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Igiede guided the Muleriders to home wins against Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist. He notched 14 points and eight rebounds against SNU as the Muleriders defeated the Crimson Storm for only the third time in their last 13 tries. He scored a career-high 24 points and went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final minute of the three-point win against the Bison.OTHERS NOMINATED
