#theGAC TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Benson Lingokal, Fr., Harding, Eldoret, Kenya
In only his second collegiate competition, Lingokal shattered the school record in the 5,000 meters by nearly 12 seconds by posting a time of 13:48.95 at the Music City Challenge. He finished second in a field of more than 50 Division I runners. His time, an NCAA Provisional time, ranks 10th in Division II. He ran the anchor leg of the distance medley team that took fourth.
#theGAC FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Keith Smith, Sr.,Southern Arkansas, Jefferson, Texas
Smith won the triple jump at the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic. On his second attempt of the meet, he cleared 15.55 meters. He broke his own school record by almost four-tenths of a meter. He secured an NCAA Provisional mark. His jumps ranks in a tie for fifth in Division II.
