RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the men’s and women’s golfer of the week awards for the ninth week of the fall season. Harding’s José Arzú earned the men’s honor and Arkansas Tech’s Ellen Spigner claimed the women’s award.

Arzú captured the medalist honor at the Tulsa Cup after he bested Central Missouri’s CJ Phillips in a playoff. The two finished the 54-hole event tied on 8-under par. Phillips entered ranked No. 15 in the country. Arzú carded rounds of 3-under 69, 4-under 68 and 1-under 71. He made 13 birdies over the course of the event. The Bisons finished second out of 20 teams.

#theGAC WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK – Ellen Spigner, Sr., Arkansas Tech, Nashville, Arkansas
Spigner led the Golden Suns to a nine-shot victory at the Tulsa Cup after she and teammate Jaylee Castro produced a one-two finish in the individual competition. Spigner bested Castro by two shots after she completed the event at 1-under par. She recorded rounds of 1-under, 3-under and 3-over. She made a tournament-leading 11 birdies and led in par-4 scoring, 3.87.
