RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the GAC/MIAA men’s soccer players of the week for the seventh week of the season. Northeastern State’s Carl Murch won the Offensive honor while Fort Hays State’s Harrison Bensouda and Payton Roehrich claimed the Defensive Player and Goalkeeper awards.

#theGAC/MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Carl Murch, CB, Northeastern State, Sr., Shrewsbury, England
Murch recorded his first brace for the RiverHawks as they defeated Harding, 3-2. His first goal came in the 34th minute and put the RiverHawks up 2-1. He scored on a right foot floater off a free kick pass. His second goal, which ultimately became the game-winning strike, came in the 50th minute on an assist from Carter Adams.

#theGAC/MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Harrison Bensouda, D, Fort Hays State, Sr., Shawnee, Kansas
Bensouda played 177 of 180 minutes in a scoreless draw against Southern Nazarene and a 1-0 victory against No. 17 Rogers State. The Tigers surrendered only four shots, two on goal, against the Crimson Storm. The defense did not permit the Hillcats a single shot on goal.

#theGAC/MIAA GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Payton Roehrich, GK, Fort Hays State, Fr., Chandler, Arizona
Roehrich continued to rank in the top five nationally in goals-against average, shutouts and save percentage after he registered shutouts against Southern Nazarene and Rogers State. He made one critical save against the Crimson Storm in a scoreless draw. The No. 4 Tigers became the first team to clinch a spot in next month’s GAC/MIAA Men’s Soccer Championships.
