Linares recorded two goals and an assist for five points over two matches as he helped the Tigers register a 4-0 win against Ouachita Baptist and a 5-0 win against Harding. He scored the first two goals of the 4-0 win at Ouachita after he converted a penalty kick and then a shot from about 30 yards out. Against the Bisons, he provided an assist on the Tigers’ fourth goal.
#theGAC/MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jackson Elgas, D, Fort Hays State, Sr., Leadwood, Kansas
Elgas played a team-high 150 minutes to help the Tigers record two shutout victories – their NCAA-leading 12th and 13th on the season He provided a team save on a Ouachita Baptist shot headed for an empty net late in the first half, then he had the assist on the game-winning goal at Harding with a crossing pass. The Tigers limit their opponents to just 8.5 shots per match.
#theGAC/MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Artur Carvalho, D, Rogers State, Sr., Faro, Portugal
Carvalho played the full 90 minutes in Roger State’s 4-0 win against Southern Nazarene. The win kept the Hillcats in second place with two games remaining. The Hillcats limited the Crimson Storm to five shots on goal. He recorded an assist on Brandon O’Rourke’s 17th-minute goal.
#theGAC/MIAA GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Payton Roehrich, GK, Fort Hays State, Fr., Chandler, Arizona
Roehrich picked up a pair of combined shutouts with Simon Niksch against Ouachita Baptist and Harding. He played the first 70 minutes of the match at Ouachita Baptist and made four saves. In the win at Harding. Roehrich played the first half of the contest. He lowered his goals-against average to 0.336, the second-best mark in Division II.
