RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the volleyball players of the week for the final week of the 2024 season. East Central’s Odalys Gonzalez and Julia Kabala collected the Offensive Player and Setter of the Week honors while Harding’s Ashley Lamkin garnered the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.

#theGAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Odalys Gonzalez, OH, East Central, Sr., Brownsville, Texas
Gonzalez averaged a league-leading 5.50 kills and 5.75 points per set as the Tigers earned four-set victories against Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene. She amassed 23 kills and 17 digs in helping ECU secure a season sweep of the Bison. She committed only one error and hit .440. Against the Crimson Storm, she hit .354 with 21 kills.

#theGAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Ashley Lamkin, MB, Harding, Sr., Jonesboro, Arkansas
Lamkin blocked a total of 11 attempts in the Lady Bisons’ two wins last week. After collecting two blocks against rival Arkansas Tech on Tuesday, she came with nine total blocks in a four-set victory against Southern Arkansas – two off of her season high. Offensively, she contributed 17 kills with a .452 attack percentage.

#theGAC VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK – Julia Kabala, S, East Central, Sr., Warsaw, Poland
Kabala doled out a GAC-best 13.13 assists per set in two Tiger victories. In a road win against Oklahoma Baptist, she finished with 52 assists and a match-high 20 digs. Against Southern Nazarene, she tallied 53 assists and 11 digs for her 15th double-double of the season. The two wins gave the Tigers 17 and established the program’s single-season record.
