RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s first softball weekly awards for the 2021 season. Southern Arkansas’ Sarah Evans earned the Player accolade and Harding’s Lily Tanski claimed the Pitcher honor.

GAC SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sarah Evans, Southern Arkansas, SS, So., Bryant, Arkansas

Evans led the top-ranked Mulerider offense that dominated in a season-opening doubleheader sweep of Delta State. In game one, she went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the 17-0 five-inning win. In game two, she hit a first-inning grand slam that answered Delta State’s four-run first inning. She finished the doubleheader with a .571 average and six RBI.

 

GAC SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Lily Tanski, Harding, RHP, So., Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Tanski recorded two complete-game shutouts as the Lady Bisons went 4-0 at the UAH Charger Chillout. In the opener, she struck out a career-high 10 batters and limited Shorter to four hits. Against No. 10 Trevecca Nazarene, she recorded five strikeouts and held the Trojans to four hits. She did not walk a batter in her 14.0 innings of work.
