RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference announced the league’s third Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards of the 2021 spring season. Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Brianna Benitez won Offensive Player; Oklahoma Baptist’s Kimmy McKinney earned Defender and Ouachita’s Michele Snow repeated as Goalkeeper of the Week.
GAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brianna Benitez, Southwestern Oklahoma State, F, So., Irving, Texas
Benitez matched the GAC’s single-game record for assists when she recorded one on all four of the Bulldogs’ goals in a shutout victory against Southern Nazarene on Tuesday. Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Jessica Lynch established the record in a contest against Ouachita on October 23, 2014.
GAC DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Kimmy McKinney, Oklahoma Baptist, D, Fr., Skiatook, Oklahoma
McKinney helped the Bison record their second shutout of the season, a 2-0 victory against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Oklahoma Baptist defense allowed only two shots in the match, none on net. She assisted on Hannah White’s 64th-minute goal, her first of the season.
GAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Michele Snow, Ouachita, So., North Richland Hills, Texas
Snow produced a 1.00 goals-against average in contests against East Central and Harding. She made four saves in a 2-1 victory on Saturday against the Tigers. She set a season high with five saves against the Lady Bisons on Tuesday. She owns a .833 save percentage in her six appearances.
