Poteau, OKLAHOMA – Eligible voters of the Poteau School District are being asked for their opinions about school facilities.

An electronic survey has been sent to parents of all currently enrolled students.

The survey will also be available on the district website as well as various social media outlets.

The results will be reviewed by the Facilities Improvement Team as priorities are established for the growth of the district. The August 28th bond vote failed to gain the required 60% support and district officials are concerned about the overcrowding that exists at the Primary, Upper Elementary, and Pansy Kidd Middle School.

“The Primary and Upper Elementary sites have been growing in enrollment for several years”, states Don Sjoberg, Superintendent, “but the numbers have finally reached the Middle School and the hallways are too crowded”. “Poteau High School will have the same overcrowding issues in 2 years”.

The e-survey results have been helpful in the past and the district wants to see if any opinions have changed in the community since the last survey.

The e-surveys have gone to the same people as in previous surveys but all other eligible voters who are interested in participating in the survey may go online or pick up a paper copy at the district office or at any of the banks in Poteau.

The school district is initiating another survey to get input regarding facilities.

The surveys have been sent (as of September 25th) to all parents/guardians of enrolled students as well as district staff members but we want to make sure that anyone else can have an opportunity to respond by clicking the link below.
