In 2005, Grissom and another man broke into the Blaine County house of Dreu Kopf, who was inside with her two young daughters and her best friend, Amber Dawn Matthews. Grissom chased Matthews into a child’s bedroom. She was holding one of the children when Grissom shot and killed her.
“Amber died at the hands of a cruel and evil man. Today, however, his fate is sealed with the denial of clemency. I am grateful to the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board for this decision,” Drummond said. “In a state where we cherish the sanctity of our homes and the safety of our loved ones, justice demands nothing less than the ultimate price for those who violently tear apart the very fabric of our community.”
Grissom’s death sentence is scheduled for March 20.
