In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 14, 2018, around 2:30 am a white 2008 Dodge Avenger four-door was northbound on Interstate 35 south of East 2nd Avenue in Edmond, the vehicle departed the roadway to the right and overturned. As a result of the collision, a three-year-old child who was an occupant of the Dodge was killed.
The driver, Xavier Trevon Ware a 20-year-old male from Moore was identified as the driver of the Dodge, the mother of the child; Alexis Tasha Ware a 24-year-old female was a passenger.
A witness to the collision immediately called 911 and OHP and Edmond Police, Fire, and EMS were sent to the scene.
Before the arrival of first responders, Trevon and Alexis Ware found the three year-old who had been ejected from the vehicle and left the scene on foot.
Approximately one hour later Xavier and Alexis flagged down a motorist in Logan County requesting assistance for the three-year-old child. OHP along with Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies and Guthrie Fire Department responded to find the child unresponsive. The child was transported to Mercy Logan County Medical Facility where the three-year-old was pronounced dead.
OHP troopers took Trevon Ware into custody, he refused to provide a sample of his blood and troopers obtained a search warrant and a sample was obtained.
Trevon Ware was transported to the Oklahoma County Jail for Murder in the 2nd degree and Child Endangerment DUI.
OHP needs any witnesses who observed the collision or observed two adults carrying a child to call 405-425-2323.
OHP has interviewed witnesses who stated there might be witnesses who were parked at Buffalo Wild Wings or Whataburger and we request they contact the OHP.
