According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol a Texas man drowns on Broken Bow Lake near the Stevens Gap Boat Ramp. The drowning occurred on July 31, 2018 at approximately 2:40pm.
According to the report, Jose Rios, 28 of Roxton, Texas was swimming near the ramp area of Broken Bow Lake and was attempting to swim across to the other shore.
He yelled for help and then went under water and did not resurface.
The accident was investigated by OHP, Oklahoma Park Rangers, Broken Bow Fire Department, Corps of Engineers, Oklahoma Game Wardens, and McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office.
