OKLAHOMA CITY – Bryson Buie and Garrett Griffin are paging for Rep. Jim Grego, R-Wilburton, April 13-16 at the State Capitol.

Bryson is a junior at Canadian High School. His parents are Allan and Kirsten Buie. The family lives in Eufaula. Garrett is a senior at McAlester High School. His parents are Patrick and Erin Griffin. The family lives in Kiowa.

During their time at the Capitol, House pages get to shadow their legislator, attending committee meetings and sessions on the House floor. They also take part in a mock legislative session with peers from across the state. They write, present, debate and vote on their own or peer-led legislation, and they elect leaders from among themselves.

“Bryson and Garrett were great additions to my Capitol team this week,” Grego said. “They’re both incredibly smart and willing to jump right into the process. They are getting to attend some interesting committee meetings and hear multiple budget bills presented on the House floor, including some intense questioning and debate. I’m glad they got this opportunity to learn firsthand how their state government functions.”

Bryson’s academic achievements include multiple placings at scholastic meets across the state. He’s received a letter from the Harvard Institutes of Medicine and has been on the Honor Roll throughout high school. Bryson is president of his school’s FFA, and a captain or leader on the basketball, baseball, football, track and cross country team. His goal after high school is to attend Oklahoma State University to study nursing with the goal of becoming a registered nurse.

Garrett’s achievements include maintaining a 3.49 grade point average and receiving a Rotary Club Scholarship. he is vice president of the McAlester FFA chapter and has a state FFA degree. He also has served and organized a number of service projects in school or his community, including assisting at livestock events, volunteering and working with younger students. He plans to attend OSU’s Spears School of Business to major in marketing and business with a minor in finance.

Jim Grego serves District 17 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes Latimer County and part and Pittsburg County.
