OKLAHOMA CITY – Hannah Reed, a homeschool student from Poteau, and Dustin Noahubi, of Heavener, paged for Rep. Rick West, R-Heavener, from March 6-9 at the state Capitol.

Reed plans to attend Carl Albert State College to study business administration in order to pursue a career in banking. Her academic achievements include being a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Extra-curricular activities and achievements include archery, 4-H and studying culinary arts at Kiamichi Technology Center.

Noahubi, of Heavener, plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a double major in management information systems and political science and then a master’s degree in cybersecurity. His academic achievements include serving as salutatorian and achieving a 4.0 grade point average in college coursework and a 3.9 GPA in high school. Extra-curricular activities include receiving a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and learning Arabic. Upon graduating college, he hopes to work in government and provide for those in need.

“These two young people showed a great work ethic and an interest in the legislative process,” West said. “During the mock floor session, Hannah ran a bill. They both asked very good questions, and they both did very well. I’m proud of them, and it was an honor to have them serve in my office in the House of Representatives.”

Every year, hundreds of students from across the state have the opportunity to take part in the House High School Page Program at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City. Through the program, students have a chance to view the legislative process up close and gain experience working in state government.

Pages are assigned for one week, Monday through Thursday, during the legislative session, which constitutionally runs from the first Monday in February through the last Friday in May.

Students serving as a page work in the House Chamber during daily session, assist representatives and House staff with tasks and take part in the House Page Mock Legislature on the floor of the House Chamber.

  • Rick West serves District 3 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes part of LeFlore County.
