Dempsey showed a sheep alongside Alyssa Kennedy of Whitesboro FFA, highlighting the dedication and expertise of Oklahoma’s young agricultural leaders.
“Alyssa did an outstanding job raising and showing her sheep,” Dempsey said. “Her skill and leadership were clear as she guided me and other legislators through the livestock exhibition process. This event really highlights the importance of agriculture in our state and the hard work our FFA students put in year-round. Alyssa’s dedication and expertise are impressive, and I have no doubt she has a bright future ahead in agriculture.”
The OYE, known as the world’s largest junior livestock show, brings together over 22,000 livestock entries and more than 7,000 agricultural students, educators and families from all 77 Oklahoma counties each March. The event not only showcases the hard work and talent of young people but also celebrates Oklahoma’s rich agricultural heritage and the future of the industry.
“The Oklahoma Youth Expo is an incredible event that reflects the heart and dedication of Oklahoma’s youth,” Dempsey said. “It’s inspiring to see these students’ hard work and passion on full display. Events like this showcase the value of agriculture in our state and the bright future we have because of these young leaders.”
Open to all Oklahoma 4-H and FFA members ages eight to 19, OYE provides valuable opportunities for young people to build life skills that extend beyond the show ring. Through their participation, students learn responsibility, teamwork and the importance of hard work—lessons that will serve them well throughout life.
The Oklahoma Youth Expo’s Legislative Celebrity Showmanship Contest is held annually and pairs well-known Oklahomans with FFA students from their districts to showcase livestock. Oklahoma representatives, senators and members of the governor’s office are all invited to participate in the event.
