Press Release

OKLAHOMA CITY –The National Federation of Independent Business has recognized State Rep. Rick West, R-Heavener, for having a 100 percent voting record in support of small businesses.

The voting record is compiled every two years on every member of the Oklahoma Legislature by the NFIB, a national small business advocacy organization. Only votes directly affecting small businesses in Oklahoma are considered.

“Small businesses not only provide services and products to our communities but also culture,” said West. “As honored as I am that I was recognized by the NFIB, I wish all lawmakers voted to support small businesses.”

NFIB’s Oklahoma Voting Record includes votes on seven key issues, including property rights, health insurance, and lawsuit reform.

The 2017-2018 NFIB Oklahoma Voting Record includes legislation regarding:
• The sale of insurance across state lines
• Protecting businesses from website accessibility claims
• Holding trespassers liable for damages
• Agri-business exemption from federal truck log rules
• Privatization within state agencies

NFIB State Director Jerrod Shouse said West’s “voting record demonstrates a commitment to the issues critical to the success of Oklahoma’s small businesses. On behalf of NFIB members in Oklahoma, thank you for your support of small business in the Oklahoma Legislature.”
