Got another full afternoon of Country Music this Sat the 19th ! From 1-8 pm, three bands and Bingo between them . Oklahoma Moon , Backslider’s Wine and Connie Abbott will bring the music ! Will you bring friends and lawnchairs ? Come on out and be a part of a special day of Live Music !

On a side note : Insects ! I have gotten kinda used to sugar ants , those lil’ black one that find a way in the house when the water is standing an inch in the yard . They gotta find a dry place . Even had them under the leaves on some 8 ft sunflowers . I noticed something eating holes in the leaves . 7 dust
, no prob , NO ants !

Then the rain quit , suddenly , and the flys came out . I wore two flyswatters out , quick ! So I went for the fly traps . I was a lil late . found a jar trap that they crawled into and stayed . And the only thang else that I could find was the Fly Ribbon . Ya know the sticky strips that ya unrolled
and hung up . But I forgot how to use them and quickly became caught in three places before I got it placed ! Then I hung on and immediately bend down and got my hair in it . That took a mirror and some time to get out of ! Finally got 3 hung and started catching
flies .

Well they were driving my dawg crazy so I got the bright idea to put a couple in the dawg lot . Some of y’all can see this coming . It didn’t work too well cause I caught the dawg and then me ! The harder she jumped the worse it got until both of us was sticky and wrapped up . But those things
work cause we were both covered with flies when we stopped wiggli’ ! Great way to spend Sunday afternoon , warshing flies off me and the dawg !

Anyway , back to the Live Music ! Oklahoma Moon Starts the event at 1pm . Monroe’s own David Love sings and drums for the band . Floyd Adams , vocals/bass and Doug York , vocals /guitar provide some awesome Country and Gospel with a lotta 3 part harmony and some homegrown humor for flavor . Jokes are corny (Weber Falls Corn-Y) ! But between jokes they sing and play Country classic favorite that will bring back memories . Good way to start the show !

Between bands , and to give some of these oldtimers time to move one group out and set up the next , there will be Bingo ! Concession will be open with cold drinks and hot dawgs and such . A couple of waitresses will be there to pass out cards and help with the food . Tents for shade and fans to move
the air will help keep ya comfortable .

Mary Parham and Connie Abbott , Main Street Matters , will host the Shindig . They also will set up chairs , canopies for shade , help cook and prob call Bingo . They work hard from month to month to provide these events for you and Downtown Poteau alive and well . But if ya wanna pitch in and help ,
there are several spots open . Just show up and you can be a big help and will be appreciated !

Next band , Backslider’s Wine, plays the dance music. I’m talking two-step , linedancein’ , waltz kinda music from Casinos to the Coffee Cup ! Randy Smith carries the lion’s share of vocals ! Good to hear him sing again . Everybody sings with Max Harris/bass , Ricky Ward/lead , Randy Fennell/steel and Dusty
Klutts/drums(No , he don’t sing) . Great guys with a great Classic Country sound !

thumbnail Connie Abbott and Country Pride

Then Bingo again . And at 6pm , Connie Abbott and Country Pride take the stage . This three piece group will get ya feet movin’ and make ya wanna get up and dance ! All Top-notch musicians , Connie brings the vocals to life with a lifelong career of singing and playing drums . Connie won the Oklahoma
Country Music Association Female Vocalist AND Drummer of the Year award for several years in a row while playing in a family band with her Mother and Dad ! David Abbott follows in his family’s footsteps , Dad Hank and Uncles Charlie and Sam , and is one of the finest guitar pickers in 6 states . Smiling Bob Garrett provides fills and color on the steel guitar ! Bob has a great voice but I sure hope he can git some new jokes , maybe funny this time ! You will enjoy this trio !

After a year of silence the Park with be filledwith Blues again . Since this was hard to schedule after the year of lockdown , The FSBlues Society has the very best of local bands and guitar heroes on both nites ! Friday starts off strong with Oreo Blue , Gary Hutchison is the most entertaining pickers
around . And an awesome blues guitar player .

Then Buddy Shute and the Motivators followed by Brickfields Blues Therapy . Great blues !

On Sat. , Prince Albert , Pat Moss and closing with the Mark Albertson Trio ! I enjoy hearing Mark play , the blues , rock or solo ! His style is so smooth , he plays with so much feeling and emotion , that his leads tell a story where the lyrics can’t take ya ! One of my favorite pickers !

On a side note , Dale Fraze Sr. will be ineverybody’s way on stage both nites ! Dale has been part of the FSBlues Society for years and wearing many hats ! He always helps as a drum tech , roadie and served on the board . This year is special for Dale . He opens the Festival playing drums for Gary
Hutchison and Oreo Blue ! Then closes on Sat nite with Mark Albertson ! Dale has been in bands with both great guitarist thru the years but the weekend will , as Dale puts it , be “a real Honor” !

There are ways to get to be a part of the FS BluesFestival . Become a member , contribute as a sponsor , or a volunteer to work at the festival !

There will be another IBC fundraiser event soon that will determine who get to represent this area in Memphis at the Finals . I hear it might be held at the Majestic on Garrison . So Support the Blues !

Get out this weekend and support Live Music !
