The Health Department will be hosting an in-person Community Services Resource Event on Friday, July 23, 2021, from 9-11am, at the Health Department. Covid has been especially hard on our community and has created many barriers for contact. However, among this season, some wonderful services have emerged, which many can now benefit from.

Please let this email serve as an invitation to you and those in the helping field to participate in this upcoming event. The intent of the event is to create an environment to openly share and showcase information on existing or new services to Leflore County community members.

As some have started to see a community need regarding changes in services and/or the need for a refresher on what services continue to exist, we felt charged with going forward with this service opportunity and greatly believe there is power in the support of others with a like cause. That’s where you come in!

If you would like to participate in this event, please contact me, Jamie Angle, at your earliest convenience. Those who choose to participate in person, please be mindful of Covid precautions remaining in place at this time to include wearing a mask, sanitizing often, and socially distancing as able. Tables will be set up for your convenience to display information. As part of your attendance, we are requesting each participant bring a small game, which would allow children the opportunity to win a prize. Swag and school supplies are encouraged and a bonus!

The Choctaw Nation will be setting up an interactive learning experience for adults. We hope this will be of great interest to those coming through the event.

If your organization cannot make this event (we understand, short notice, and deeply apologize), but would like your information to be included, the Choctaw Nation has offered to include your content in their bags they intend to hand out. Please contact Wayne Burden if this area applies to you at 580-380-0416.

We anticipate next year will be more organized and plan to have something on a larger scale.
